I Know Who's Spending YOUR Money....

...and you can to. There's lot of public information to access, but it can be a monumental task to dig through it all.  It's easy to grasp a quick summary though thanks to a fantastic organization called the Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW).  In their own words:

Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) is a private, non-partisan, non-profit organization representing more than one million members and supporters nationwide. CAGW's mission is to eliminate waste, mismanagement, and inefficiency in the federal government. Founded in 1984 by the late industrialist J. Peter Grace and syndicated columnist Jack Anderson, CAGW is the legacy of the President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control, also known as the Grace Commission.

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) is the lobbying arm of CAGW. The CCAGW mission is to advocate the elimination of waste and inefficiency in government through nonpartisan public education programs and lobbying activities. Each year, CCAGW tabulates its Congressional Ratings, evaluating how each member of Congress measures up on key tax and spending votes.

And this my friends is how you can judge your Senators and Representatives, and in our current case - our candidates for the White House as well.

Visit this page to download the 2007 Senate Scorecard and 2007 House Scorecard. With these documents, you can view a quick summary of the individual "pork spending" bills that were up for vote, the result of the vote, as well as a nice summary on the record of EACH Senator and Representatives.

Most of you know I'm not a very big fan of Obama; I'm not a McCain loyalist either, but it's a no-brainer McCain is going to run the country better if you just look at the facts, experience, and record.  It's also a no-brainer as to who is going to spend our money wisely.  Our congressmen receive a percentage "grade" on how often they voted on the side of the taxpayer in the CCAGW Scorecards.  McCain's "grade" for 2007 was 100% - best you can get.  Granted, his attendance record is not what it should be - he has missed 28.3% of the votes over his political career in Washington.  He voted on the side of the taxpayer (you and I) every time though, and for that he deserves our thanks.  "Obama the Enchanted One's" grade - 10%.  That's a resounding FAIL!  He only voted on the side of the taxpayer 1 out of 10 times.  Oh yeah, and his absentee record for his career - 55.0%.  Abismal on all accounts.  And this is who may be running our country folks!
